When Formex's Operative Event Manager, Kajsa Falck-Torlegård, produced Formex Trends SS21, she got the idea to paint a headboard in her own home. She wanted to use a neutral tone from the color scheme that they created in the theme Pure and decided to use Mild Beige NCS 1505-Y20R. The challenge was that the bed was placed under a sloping roof and that a regular headboard would steal space. Therefore, she decided to paint a headboard with the same height but with a longer width, which covers the entire length of the wall. The result is a cozier and more well-founded place for the bed.

“The choice of color is always exciting. I wanted a feeling of calm and serenity, but still keep the light in the room. The color would, without really adding more color to the room, create a softness. It therefore became a warm neutral mild beige-gray tone that emerges depending on the light.”

“When I pulled the tape, it became, what I think, too sharp and perfect edges. I speculated if I should paint so that the color faded against the white wall, but was unsure if it would look messy in a small room. Then I came up with the idea of using short brush strokes to create an edge that strives to look like a torn textile so that it fringes a little. With the brush dipped in just a little of the beige color, I painted over the sharp edge with ½ cm short brush strokes and it made a big difference. The edge is still straight, but the finish is soft and perfectly imperfect”.
