A tip! Create your own area of color

Kajsa Falck-Torlegård, Operative Event Manager at Formex, renewed a boring corner with an area she refers to as her "play area".

Shapes and colors are something that Kajsa comes in contact with almost every day at work. That doesn't stop her from wanting to keep creating even when she comes home. "For me, I always wants to find new interior design project, but my home is kind of done already. That's why it feels great to have my own area where I can create"

In her house, one stair up, Kajsa has painted an area, which she can repaint as often as she wants.  “I create the seasonal colors for Formex, where I combine colors in different themes for each new season, so for the most part I repaint the area to test upcoming trend colors. Right now, it is painted in the color "Baby Rose" from Formex trends SS 2020."

But the original idea was simply to create something new and interesting from a boring corner in a narrow corridor. “Painting a smaller area instead of an entire background gives me a wider opportunity to control the feeling I want to achieve. If you paint the area high, the height of the rooms ceiling is accentuated, a horizontal area lowers the ceiling and creates intimacy, and an area that runs over a corner creates excitement."

5 easy steps to create your own area of color

1. Measure the area (preferably with a laser). Find some natural line to follow in the room, such as the top of the doorpost or against furniture, which will be placed.

2. Mark the area with tape.

3. First, paint over the tape with the existing color of the room to seal the tape and to avoid the new color flowing across the line.

4. Paint with the color of the area. Use a small roller smaller surfaces. Two coats of paint are preferable.

5. Take off the tape and the area is ready. Time for the fun - to style the space.

If you then want to repaint the area you do not have to measure again, just add the tape a few millimeters outside the existing area of color.

Good luck!
